Still enjoying every day, decided to highlight a wonderful event at one of my favorite independent bookstores- Powells Books… they had a SMART (Start Making a Reader Today) celebration to promote, expand awareness, get more volunteers and celebrate authors. I was so happy to see some of my favorite author friends and catch up. I forgot to take a few pictures but I just loved catching up with people and seeing their books and enthusiasm and also meeting new authors and illustrators. SMART and Powells welcomed eight authors from 12-2 and another eight authors from 2-4 and it was just so wonderful to celebrate volunteerism and literacy. What a wonderful program SMART is…
I also had a fantastic time going to see my sister and a talented cast perform in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying… they were hilarious and energetic and I wish I had the stamina and energy they had… My sister was fantastic, of course, and her best friend was also in the cast, Teresa, and I loved seeing her perform as well. Teresa has a blog and YouTube channel, very different from my personality but I enjoy keeping up with her on both. I had the bonus of happy hour with them at The Thirst Lion, great place to relax and chat, even at a late hour…
The guys also had fun, they went to ride their bikes at Sunday Parkways. It was entertaining, had good food treat opportunities, and they even met up with some friends at a park. I love that Sunday Parkways provides an opportunity to explore different areas around Portland for walking, running, and biking without cars driving through. I honestly like street fairs more personally but hooray for my guys having a fun, healthy outlet- thrilled that our kiddo can confidently ride a bike now.
