Our family decided to sneak in another trip, this time in the opposite direction from the coast, we went to the Columbia Gorge area. We loved the drive out there, just such beautiful scenery, blue skies, fresh air… plus the temperature isn’t terrible. We presently are appreciating road trips since we can bring our sweet dog Dulcie with us- she’s 15, we’re enjoying every minute with her and are in awe of her energy, she’s keeping up with us and also needing breaks- honestly, when I need a break is usually when she does too…
We went to Multnomah Falls which is a place most people visiting Oregon go… and it was “crowded” for Oregon, but after the crowds in Hong Kong… we were just fine. We loved walking the trails, going up and around one switchback after another. You never know who you’ll see walking up the trails, I enjoyed people watching. The guys headed on after my dog and I took a rest and then we started heading back to town.
We stopped at Rooster Rock State Park on the way back and were wandering only a tiny bit around the place when my son was stung by a bee. Not a fun moment but we got through it and drove over to see the rock in another area of the park before heading home. The sting wasn’t terribly bad, just more of a surprise than anything. I had the realization that my old medical kits that we had in the past before we moved to Hong Kong were gone… so a kit that includes bee sting treatment has been ordered.
Appreciating time here in Oregon, missing Hong Kong friends quite a bit but still treasuring every day we have together.
